Whoo! Another Fitzgerald!
I was really happy to see we got to read more of Fitzgerald's stories in this pod! I loved The Great Gatsby so I had to read "Winter Dreams" at least. I liked this story. It was sad when he found out Judy married a man and lived a depressing life (Sorry for the spoiler) but it was nice to see she proved him wrong when he thought she would be a terrible wife. She was actually staying with the man who treated her like crap and she loved and watched her children. Dexter, the narrator, thought she was always going to be a flirt and never settle down. That was one reason he would not or could not marry her. I will definitely be reading his other short story, "Babylon Revisited."

I also enjoyed reading the Great Gatsby. Very good book...
ReplyDeleteHi Abby! :)
ReplyDeleteDid you notice that Fitzgerald can't seem to get away from the idea of "time lost"? Even "Babylon Revisited" the father lost time with his daughter. The major difference I got through all 3 of his stories was that in "BR" it was his daughter instead of his wife he lost. I have come to feel sorry for the man. Such an awesome author, a wordsmith, a master of the language, yet his heartache is ever present.
I enjoyed Babylon Revisited. On our Pronto call I almost told the whole story. That is one of his short stories I will definately share with friends.
